In 1998, our founder, Anne Aldridge-Baligian, opened a cleaning service that was named Ocean State House Cleaning. What started out as a one-woman operation has now grown into two separate cleaning service companies, New England Pro-Clean for commercial cleaning, and for residential cleaning services, New England Pro-Maids. Anne began her career in the cleaning industry when she was 19 years old while working a summer job at a Merry Maids franchise in Rhode Island. We now have a staff of over 40 cleaning professionals and 5 office staff members. Anne has a B.S in accounting from Rhode Island College where she graduated cum laude in 2008. She also has experience as an accountant working for a local mid-size accounting firm.
In the spring of 2000 our first employee was hired and by the summer of 2002 we had out-grown our home office and had to move into leased office space. Our first office was located on Rolfe Square in Cranston. In the fall of 2002, we won our first ever commercial cleaning bid which was with the Providence Housing Authority. We won the bid to do clean-outs of all their section-8 housing apartments which included washing of all interior surfaces including walls and ceilings and stripping the floors of wax using a rotary floor machine. 2002 was also the year that we put our first website on the World Wide Web.
In July of 2009 we moved our office to our current location at 221B Hallene Rd in Warwick, RI because we needed more space. We also hired our first full-time office manager and in 2010 hired our first full-time quality control manager. By 2010 we were operating 10 teams and cleaning over 150 homes and businesses a week.
In 2010 we founded Cleaning for Heroes, a non-profit dedicated to providing no-cost cleaning services to elderly and disabled veterans. Cleaning for Heroes was featured on several TV-news reports and was also featured in the November 2012 edition of Family Circle Magazine. You can view one of the news stories that was done on Cleaning for Heroes on the Cleaning for Heroes' website. Also in 2010, we were featured on WPRI 12 news on a story they did about Groupon. That story can be viewed by clicking here. In 2011, we were hired by the PBS program "This Old House" to perform cleaning services on the house they were renovating for their show in Barrington, RI. Although none of our staff made it onto the taping of the show, we could be seen cleaning during the time-lapse video they had up on their website that was documenting the home's progress.
In November 2014, our founder, Anne Aldridge-Baligian, was named a 2015 "Entrepreneurial Woman to Watch" by the Rhode Island Small Business Journal.
In February 2017, we made the list of the top 5 nominees in the Providence Journal Readers' Choice Awards in the Cleaning Service category. Winners will be announced in May!
